You can support Dementia Care through a legacy in your Will

By leaving a legacy gift to Dementia Care in your Will, you can continue to help us to provide valuable support to people with dementia and their families.

Making a legacy for a charity

It's not just the rich and famous that leave money to charity when they die. A recent survey found that one in six of Britons over the age of 60 have included a charitable legacy in their Will. Of those that had not done so, 35% said that they would consider it, once their family was properly provided for.

There are three ways that you can support Dementia Care through a legacy in your Will:

  • a specific sum of money (pecuniary legacy)
  • a specific item
  • a share of your estate (residuary legacy)

Seek legal advice

Your Will is one of the most important legal documents you can make and we strongly suggest that you take legal advice when drawing up your Will. A good place to start is the Law Society website, where you can get advice on wills and find a solicitor near you.

If you choose to include Dementia Care in your Will, please ask your solicitor to use one of the following suggested texts:

For a specific sum:

I give to Dementia Care, The Bradbury Centre, Darrell Street, Brunswick Village, Newcastle upon Tyne, NE13 7DS, Registered Charity Number 1045517, absolutely, the sum (amount in figures, amount in words) to be applied by Dementia Care for its charitable purposes, and I further direct that the receipt of the Chief Executive or any other proper officer of Dementia Care for the time being shall be sufficient discharge to my executors.

For a share of your estate:

I give all/a share of (please state fraction/percentage) of the residue of my estate absolutely to Dementia Care, The Bradbury Centre, Darrell Street, Brunswick Village, Newcastle upon Tyne, NE13 7DS, Registered Charity Number 1045517, to be applied by Dementia Care for its charitable purposes, and I further direct that the receipt of the Chief Executive or any other proper officer of Dementia Care for the time being shall be sufficient discharge to my executors.

For a specific item:

I give to Dementia Care, The Bradbury Centre, Darrell Street, Brunswick Village, Newcastle upon Tyne, NE13 7DS, Registered Charity Number 1045517, absolutely, (write in here whatever you wish to give) to be applied by Dementia Care for its charitable purposes, and I further direct that the receipt of the Chief Executive or any other proper officer of Dementia Care for the time being shall be sufficient discharge to my executors.
