How a Dementia Guide can help
Your Dementia Guide will act as your single point of contact, helping you to understand dementia and its effects and guiding you and your family through your journey.
Your Dementia Guide can visit you in your home to provide you with advice about dementia, offering support on a regular basis when you need it. This is a free service available for people with dementia living in Newcastle upon Tyne and the surrounding areas.
They can provide you with contacts for a range of topics, such as arranging a Power of Attorney or advice on healthy living and cooking. They can also help you find other services in your area that may be useful and give advice on any care and support that you may require.
They can advise and recommend a range of products that may help you and your family. They can also provide a selection of free products ranging from clocks and reminders to mobile phone apps and health monitor.
Ask your Dementia Guide for our free information booklets:
- Is it dementia?
- Diagnosed with dementia
- Being a Carer
- Caring for someone with dementia
- Living well with dementia
- Where to live
- Behavioural changes
They can also help you to access our on-line course on making your home more dementia-friendly.
