I have worked for Dementia Care since 1996. The organisation was based on Domiciliary Care, Day Club and a small percentage of supported living. Over the years the company has grown and expanded all services with the building of the Bradbury Centre and opened the Residential Respite Centre. I have had the opportunity to work across each service and in 2016 I was promoted to Team Leader in the Newcastle Day Centre.
Two years ago I got the chance to become involved in the training side of the organisation to become a facilitator in the Best Practice in Dementia Care with Stirling University. Dementia Care is very good at ensuring all of its staff have the relevant training and knowledge they need to carry out their work roles and will also hold any additional training courses that are requested by staff. This ensures that the clients we provide care and companionship for have the best quality of life and their families and carers are given the support they need.
